Got Gourd?

Everyone, meet Ruby! She’s got to be the prettiest golden retriever we’ve met. Ha! You thought we got another dog didn’t you? Oh nooooo she did melt our heart, but she’s not ours. She belongs to Clarlyn and Rick, the owners of the “Gourd Barn” in Michigan’s UP.

This barn is over 100 years old and if your lucky enough to pass by when they are home, you’ll get to visit alittle something special.

The Gourd Barn

Clarlyn creates beautiful works of art out of gourds. As she showed us around her barn and beautiful property, telling us stories about how it became her shop and studio and a bit of history behind some of the artifacts hanging around. We also learned a gourd has a mother, it’s filled with water, and can be come various things like jewelry, musical instruments, decorations, and tools. Yet here we thought it was just a type of pumpkin 😂 Silly us. Who knew!
